Try their herb and cheese or pesto parm bagel, their blended iced coffees are also good but a bit pricey. REMEMBER TO USE THEIR REWARDS AND STACK UP FREE BAGELS, it's easy to forget but it's worth it! MVPIf you have a little time on a weekend morning, Bagel Cafe is the place to be in Isla Vista. They open and close extremely early (6: 3. AM - 3 PM), which makes it a perfect place to get breakfast or brunch in the vicinity. Since there is limited seating (and it's all outdoors), you do want to get there before the stampedes of hungry, hungover college students roll in around 1. AM. If you're really craving plain, they do have it, but the real winners are the flavored ones. Both herb cheese and whole wheat sesame are excellent, and the garlic and galaxy aren't too shabby either. There are also some sweet options that go well with a smear of their fruity cream cheeses, or a dash of cinnamon sugar and butter. Getting one of those is enough to fill me up for a meal, and then some. Their pizza bagel also is a good vegetarian option, although I wish they'd offer it with an Italian sausage crumble or some bell peppers to give it extra flavor. I'm dying to try one of their sweet ones, like the Sex on a Beach (cinnamon, not cocktail flavored). If the office above Bagel Cafe ever vacates, they should purchase it and build a dining room upstairs. Heck, they could even add a coffee bar up there. Located next to a liquor store in a college town makes this a great spot to get bagels, bagel sandwiches and coffee drinks. The bagels are extra large and they fill it to the brim! My boyfriend got the Lox bagel sandwich and I got the Eggle Plus. The bagels are freshly made and the sandwiches are made to order. You might have to wait a few minutes for your order but it worth the wait. If you're in town and craving a mom/pop shop style bagel, you won't be disappointed. Saw this place had a lot of good reviews on Yelp so I thought I'd check this place out. To my dismay, all the workers were extremely rude especially the cashier. The best part? I received my bagel like this. I really appreciate the creativity and amount of effort those two girls put into making this bagel. The first time my friend told me I HAVE to try this place I thought what could be so special about bagels ?? Oh but was I wrong. Everything is special about this place ! The line can get long during the weekends(especially busy weekends) but it's worth waiting in line for. You can also order online and have it delivered if you don't feel like waiting in line. It moves pretty fast though. For first timers I would recommend the super deluxe( I ask for no onions). There are a lot of other good melts and sandwiches but the super deluxe is an all time favorite. The international is pretty good too. I sometimes would customize the breakfast ones too! So you have a lot of options with this place. They also have a rewards program where you can collect points and get deals so if you go a lot I would recommend signing up for it ! Bagel Cafe is the perfect breakfast spot near UCSB. It reminded me of a bagel shop in the OC. Bagel Cafe has a wide selection of different bagels with various toppings. They have a solid variety of bagels ranging from the works to herb cheese to chocolate chip. They have about 1. This bagel was more of a sandwich! They use such excellent quality turkey for this bagel. The melted mozzarella and the avocado made this even better. Overall, I really liked the selection of different bagel options and toppings. However, I ordered 4 bagels and they messed up on 2 of them. On one they got the completely different order and on the second they forgot to add the bacon even though they charged me for it. I didn't really understand how they messed up the order since we were the only customers at the time, but unfortunately I didn't realize the mistake until later. HUGE portions for what you pay, but then again, I am coming from someone who pays typically $1. LA. One super deluxe lasted me two meals and was around $7- 8. Might be easier to eat with a fork and knife, definitely got my fingers dirty. Friendly staff, seating outside. I wish the place was not as cramped and hectic, and seating outside is not as inviting as I'd want, but it is a bagel shop! One of the second- tier staples as compared to Freebirds when visiting Isla Vista. This place is always PACKED on weekend mornings. The place itself is tiny, so it's kind of a mess trying to get food there. But it's worth it. Their bagels are wow so good, and the bagel sandwiches are amazing and fresh and perfectly flavored. Avocado and turkey is delicious, too. Definitely would recommend for breakfast in IV! Bagel cafe is overrated in my opinion. The sandwiches are good and creative, but the bagels themselves leave much to be desired. They are standard west coast baked bagels- not steamed or boiled. It's refreshing!! My husband always gets the hot sandwiches and I've like what of his that I've tried. There is good coffee in IV, but not here. If you're expecting a delicious bagel, you'll be disappointed. Be aware that they are crazy generous with lemon pepper. Good customer service they handle big crowds extremely well. It was pretty busy when I came and I still got my bagel in 5 min! The prices already include tax! Everything was extremely fresh.. I definitely recommend this place but I've been disappointed lately : /Seems like new employee at bagel cafe wants to close at 1: 3. Pretty disappointed as a SB alumni visiting for my younger brother's grad and bagel cafe isn't living up to it's previous standards. Owners please take action on your staff and bring back the 5 star bagel cafe we all know and love. I'm. Excellent selection of toppings and good- quality bagels. Small inside, you'll be eating outside if you choose to eat there. We went there Sunday morning because no places were open. They have many different types of melts and sandwiches. Love this place!! I've only tried two of the bagels here but just reading all the choices, they all sound delicious (and I bet they are). If you love salmon and cream cheese together, this bagel is definitely for you. They also put cucumber and tomato on it which gives the bagel such a refreshing bite to it with a nice crunch. Seriously such a great combo. Pesto.. melty cheese.. I personally don't like sprouts but you can just swipe em off. I had a lunch special that came with a bagel melt and soda/coffee for just $6! Fresh bagels on the regular basis- ranges from cheese herb to pumpernickel to cinnamon glaze. I've tried this place a few times and it's been very consistent in terms of service and quality. The price is a bit on the higher end though. Will continue to come back here for my bagel sandwiches fix! This place is exactly what I need after a very late night. It's got so many options of bagels and melts that I can't even begin to tell you how good everything seems to be. I only ever get the Super Deluxe Melt because it's the most amazing thing ever, but others that I go with get different things that they always claim are the best ever. Also, sometimes there's a bit of a wait because they have so many people there all the time, so if you're looking for a quick grab and go type of deal, this might take a little bit longer than that. This is easily my favorite bagel spot of all time. Bagel Cafe got me through all the ups and downs of college and I make it a point to eat here any time I happen to be in town. I usually add tomato to mine and have them do pesto CC on one half and sundried tomato CC on the other half. It is HEAVENLY! I seriously dream about this sandwich. I've tried so many things off the menu, but this is the item I order over and over again. Honestly, if I was ever on death row, the Super Emma as I have described it above would most certainly be my last meal of choice. It's that good. Nuff said. My girlfriend lives on IV and goes to UCSB, and she LOVES Bagel Cafe. She knows I'm a huge fan of bagels so she told me about this place, and obviously, I was excited to try it. First thing I did when I was in town, I went straight to Bagel Cafe. Even though this place was a hole in the wall, the line was literally out the door, but the wait isn't that bad because at the end of the day, its bagels. My girlfriend recommended the Super Deluxe Melt, so I got that, on the Galaxy bagel. Of course, I told them to put extra lemon pepper on it (you can never have too much lemon pepper). It was truly AMAZING. All the toppings went perfect together, and I definitely recommend this to everyone. I knew it had to be good because it had 2 of my favorite ingredients: bacon and cream cheese. If you love cream cheese, and are a fan of bacon, then you will LOVE this bagel. So if you want something simple, this is definitely worth it. But if you want to try one of their specials, I recommend the Super Deluxe Melt on Galaxy bagel. The vibes you get when you're in there are unlike any other. Only thing that gets annoying is the fact that its PACKED inside and no room to even drop a needle, but the staffs energy just overpowers your annoyance, loll. I've tried Sex- On- A- Bagel (Cinnamon glaze bagel with melted butter and cinnamon sugar) and Nutty Banana (Honey walnut cream cheese, sliced banana, topped with cinnamon sugar), and both were great. Not overly sweet but plenty of flavor. Don't let the quirky names fool you. These bagels are under toasted and the wait time is far too long.
